News24 | Usindiso fire inquiry: City officials knew about overcrowded, crime-ridden building since 2003

The commission of inquiry into the deadly Usindiso building fire that claimed 76 lives in August 2023 says the City of Johannesburg and the Johannesburg Property Company knew about the "appalling conditions" at the building for several years but "did nothing to address the ringing alarm bells".
